Next there was Raven. Now we have Ryker!I agree with everyone, buy your third RV first... We honestly didn't think we could work with anything other than a travel trailer because of the tools, generator and all of our other equipment/patch materials that go along with the repair work we do on the road. Our next stop in Chula Vista, CA had us once again staying at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. This time I reserved an end spot, #75. I highly recommend this campground if you're in the area. This time we planned a day off to visit the coast. We had four days to spend in the desert before returning to civilization. I decided to see what I could find on Campendium. I had heard about places outside of Yuma, AZ. Based on reviews and other bloggers I decided to give American Girl Mine (AGM) Road a try. It was an easy 30 minute drive from the state park. Our work sites, we had three of them, were all within a half hour of the resort. The park is huge! It has nearly 800 spots, some of which are for RV's. That's because our rolling home is our home - does that make sense? The day to day stuff that makes up life for us is the same as it was when our home didn't have wheels. There's still bills to pay, meals to be prepared, work to be done, chores, laundry. Well, you get it... During the Covid-19 shutdowns of March, April and May 2020, we were stationary at our rental pad in Sacramento, CA. During that time we were primarily fabricating sneeze guards for the local hospitals. This kept us very busy working 6-7 days a week and I had a hard time keeping up on my blog posts. We officially left Sacramento on June 8th and have been traveling ever since.&Rene http://www.blogger.com/profile/12780561678301320661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221549570309396266.post-31977498919826354152020-03-09T11:35:00.000-07:002020-03-09T11:39:39.168-07:00Catch Up TimeYes, I know, I've been slacking in the blogging area :-( I just haven't been very inspired to write lately. Plus, life seems to be keeping me otherwise engaged.
After we left Jessica, Mike and Emmett, we headed back to North Carolina. We had some work to take care of but planned a six night stay so we could also relax a bit. Hard to believe that was in July and it's almost the end of the year! So much has happened to us. Some I'd rather forget...
Tears Of Frustration
We had some difficult truck issues. Difficult to get a proper diagnosis. Difficult on the wallet. Difficult on the travel schedule. Rene http://www.blogger.com/profile/12780561678301320661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221549570309396266.post-53292284810226392832019-09-26T18:31:00.000-07:002019-09-26T18:31:48.820-07:00From Flowers To Mosaics to Potholes In Shelburne Falls With Maine in the rear view mirror, it was time to start heading west. The line of cars and RVs traveling toward Bar Harbor as we left made us glad we were on the opposite side of traffic. We definitely enjoyed our time in the area though! Next time we'll plan on a longer stay (without moving the rig) and we'll time our stay better to avoid the holiday crowds.

When we left our campground in Biddeford, Maine we had planned a stop at Planet Fitness gym in Bangor, Maine. Lucky for us the parking lot was big enough to accommodate our ginormous truck and trailer combo :-) Having a gym with nationwide locations allows us to workout and keep fit. Sometimes it just feels good to get on a cardio machine and lift weights for an hour or two. &Rene http://www.blogger.com/profile/12780561678301320661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221549570309396266.post-65622328277155998552019-08-03T20:39:00.001-07:002019-08-03T20:39:02.166-07:00We Finally Made It To Maine!
After our work was done in North Carolina we said our see-ya-laters to Ron's folks and headed towards the DC area. Yep, Emmett was patiently waiting to see us :-) We planned a quick 3 night stop on our way to Maine. We knew we'd be seeing Emmett on the way back west so I was okay with this quick visit.
Saturday morning Emmett and his folks came over to our place at Cherry HillRene http://www.blogger.com/profile/12780561678301320661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221549570309396266.post-22721100817377224342019-06-09T19:22:00.000-07:002019-06-09T19:22:47.919-07:00Back To It
Going on a never-ending road trip is our ultimate goal. Yes, there will be work involved. Yes, there will be weather to deal with. Yes, there will be life to accomplish. But the sacrifices far outweigh the end result!
Before we left Sacramento Ron wanted to do a little maintenance on Raven. One thing we hadn't done yet was replace the anode rod in the water Rene http://www.blogger.com/profile/12780561678301320661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221549570309396266.post-81154185161349417082019-05-13T11:58:00.001-07:002019-05-13T11:58:47.939-07:00She's Back! She's back! Raven is finally getting her much needed spa treatment!
Forest River approved the repairs from the tire blowout as well as some other warranty issues. They make a good product. We never had any issues with Roamin. However, Raven has had her share of woes. Today we would've been in Quartzsite, Arizona for the RV-Dreams boondocking rally.
We would've been learning all about a different style of camping.
We would've enjoyed the sunny afternoons.
We would've played in the desert sand.
We would've camped alongside like minded new friends.
BUT, we like to eat...

We've decided to keep the spot we have as a 'home base' for now. The rent is low, the neighbors are nice and it's convenient to the shop. We did manage a PolyMenders work trip to the Salinas/Monterey area at the end of January. Our home for the week at nearby Betabel RV Park in San Juan Bautista was a nice change of scenery.

It's too long since we've been out. We're feeling the itch to hitch!
Garden Grove needs us to repair a broken slide. We'd rather not make the long drive to southern California for one repair. Owning and operating two businesses, working out, household chores, rig maintenance, dog walking, dog entertainment and so much more is enough to keep most anyone from getting bored. But we're not just anyone... We're DIY people :-)
How can you be bored when there's DIY projects to be done?

We've camped in 16 of the lower 48 states so far. For our state map we add a state's sticker if we have camped in it. Although we have driven through more than the ones on the map simply because that's where the road leads us. It's been a fun journey (most of the time) so far!
