Definitely Elite Suites by DRV

After drooling over the DRV website for months, we finally got to see them in person.  The dealership in southern California brought 5 models to look at: two were Elite Suites, two were Mobile Suites and one was an Estates.  All were gorgeous and spacious.  Most floor plans are available in the various styles.  The construction is the same on all styles.  The difference is the extras you get with the Elite Suites.  Unfortunately, the price was a bit higher than we expected.  The trailer/truck combo will cost $200K.  Then you start adding the hitch, washer/dryer and ?? to increase the price.  Looks like we better save some money and hope we get a good price when it comes time to sell our business and the house.

So for now, we're keeping our fingers crossed and hopeful that in two years time, we will be living our dream of R 'n R On The Road!

One more week...

One more week until Ron and I along with Burk and Karen will be at the California RV Show in Pomona.  We are all excited to see the various RV's.  I am especially looking forward to seeing the Elite Suites by DRV.  They have all of the amenities of a house: sleep number bed, one piece shower, garbage disposal, dishwasher, laundry hookup, plus the strength needed for a full timer: high R-value insulation, 15" tube frame, excellent suspension and more.  Now we just need to decide on which floor plan we like best....

What Goes in the RV, What Goes in Storage & What Goes, Period...

The ever looming thoughts of what to bring, what to put in storage and what to sell has got me thinking whenever I do most anything around the house.

This morning as I'm assembling a delicious dinner in the crock pot I think, this (crock pot) is definitely going.  But the 5 or 6 cutting boards I have, I doubt I'll need them all.

Over the weekend I made french toast when Burk & Karen (brother in law & sister in law) spent the night.  I brought out my huge electric fry pan to cook it in.  I rarely use it and hadn't thought about it in the RV.  Then Karen says she wants one for her RV because she'll likely need more cooking space.  So that got me thinking I should bring it along too.

Some of our furniture will likely go into storage, while some will be sold or given away.

Ron is in charge of the tools and I know that will be a tough choice for him.  He's such a handy guy and I know he'll want every last tool that he can fit into the smallest cranny.  Of course, we'll need tools for work too.  Luckily they are fairly compact.

The house has so many family photos on the walls and on the sofa table.  What shall come of them?  A few will travel with us.  There are some special ones I just can't part with.  The rest will have to wait in storage.  I'm too sentimental to let go of them forever.

This isn't going to be easy.  It's a good thing I have some time to compose my list!

And So It Begins...

Today is the beginning of my blogging experience!

Ron and I are hoping to be On The Road in our 5th wheel RV within two years.  We don't have it yet, but it's going to happen!  We plan on a 'working retirement' which basically means that we'll be working as we travel the US while experiencing new & exciting adventures.  We have been to a few small local RV shows and we have visited the local RV dealerships.  We are eagerly anticipating our weekend in Pomona, CA at the California RV Show!  It is said to be the biggest show in California.  After months of comparing various RV manufacturers via the internet, we are excited to see them up close and personal.
